The Australian

The Australian

About the Project

This was the first full project I did when I got my Wacom Cintiq Companion. By “full project” I mean that I did everything from sketches, sculpting and texture, to render and compositing. This was also the first polished illustration I finished during my trip through the Northern Territory. I used dynamesh to create early concepts and I used Photoshop to paint over the dynamesh sketches. I then selected one I liked and started the sculpting process from a lowpoly base mesh in a “T-pose”.

below are a couple of extra compositions I made using the same render passes I generated from ZBrush BPR.

Project Details

All done with ZBrush, the texturing work is all Polypaint, I used Transpose Master to pose the characters with the multiple sub-tools and BPR to create various render passes.

Close up

These are a few close ups to the final image in its original resolution. The Cintiq Companion handled the high res composition with multiple layers quite well.

Wacom Cintiq Companion Review

I wrote about my experience (a bit of a review) with the Wacom Cintiq Companion and how I used it while traveling through the Australian bush. In the post I added a few extra stuff about The Australian illustration that you might find useful.
